      Division: Biologics Global Product Development and Supply (GPS) - Syracuse, New York
      Capital Project Engineering Group
      • Must be enrolled in school the semester of and/or during the assignment, as well as the semester following the assignment, with a 3.0+ GPA.
      • Must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week) from June 1, 2020 - mid August 2020
      • Qualified candidates will have completed sophomore, junior, senior or PhD level coursework towards a BS in an Engineering Discipline.
      • Demonstrated problem solving ability, interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills.
      • Technical writing ability required, as well as expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to perform statistical data analysis.
      • Previous work experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or a related industry preferred.
      • Basic understanding of principles of engineering of equipment, utilities and facilities.
      Required Skills:
      • Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, organization, critical thinking, technical writing, and project management skills, strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and self-driven.
      • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
      Project Description:
      • Work alongside BMS Plant Engineers to plan and execute engineering projects for clean utilities, such as clean steam generators, water-for-injection generators and distribution systems.
      • Work with other stakeholder departments to understand financial, quality, and safety requirements.
      • Responsible for optimizing work instructions and updating Standard Operating Procedures for the maintenance and operation of clean utilities.
      • Job Hazard Analysis and job plans will be created, upgrading our maintenance and reliability program by providing a standard approach to operating and maintaining these critical systems.
      Key Deliverables at Project Completion:
      Interns are expected to present the results from their specific assignments at the conclusion of the internship via a poster presentation to colleagues and a departmental presentation. 
      Key Learnings:
      The intern will learn in-depth knowledge of how vapor compression water-for injection stills, reverse osmosis generation systems, clean steam generators, and fluid distribution systems are designed, operated, and maintained to support a Biologics Manufacturing Facility. There will also be opportunity to develop skills in the areas of technical writing, project presentations, and project management planning.
